New Issue of Eisner Award-Winning Montress Arrives in January

Five-time Eisner Award-winning series Montress is set to relaunch with a new story arc January 23rd with issue #19 of the ongoing.

Created by writer Marjorie Liu and artist Sana Takeda, Montress in an alternate matriarchal 1900s Asia and follows Maika Halfwolf, a teenage girl psychically linked to a powerful monster.

Marjorie Liu is an attorney and New York Times bestselling author of over nineteen novels. Previous comic book work includes X-23, Black Widow, Dark Wolverine, and Astonishing X-Men.  In 2018, she became the first woman to win the Eisner Award in the Best Writer category.

That is darn impressive.

Based in Japan, Sana Takeda’s art has appeared in such comics as X-Men, Ms. Marvel and Drain.  She also worked as a designer for Sega.

To catch up on the series from Image Comics, be sure to pick up Monstress: Book One on July 3rd.  The hardcover contains over 500 pages of content, including the first 18 issues of the series.
